February snow,
Crocuses and I make bold;
Time wears many coats
Of blossom, rays, rain, and ice,
Thus, my words will don them too.

This is my first attempt at a tanka poem, doing my best to follow the guidelines at Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge. I like the challenge of trying different forms; each reframes my perception of a subject or sensation and so expands my horizons.
What a beautiful tanka! I love it. 🙂
Thank-you 🙂
Beautiful, I love crocuses harvanger of spring 💜💜
Thank-you! Yes, I love crocuses, they’re a wonderful symbol of life returning 🙂
They are indeed 💜
What a spectacular Tanka! Welcome, and I love the crocus image. ❤
Thank-you, Colleen, for both the lovely comments and the challenge! I really enjoyed bending my mind to try this form. 🙂
That makes me very happy! Please come back. These poems are like puzzles and so fun to write. ❤
I will definately come back, thank you! I love writing poems, but writing a Tanka was a new challenge for me. As you say it was a puzzle to write and one I enjoyed doing. 🙂
Well done! I like the idea of time wearing coats. (K)
Thank you
